Beech Starship Placed In Surplus Auction

Town Of Marana, AZ Divesting Non-Airworthy Airplane

The town of Marana, AZ has placed a non-flyable 1993 Beechcraft Starship Reliant in a public surplus auction, but it's not going to be inexpensive.

The auction began on November 22 and is scheduled to end on December 13, but may be extended, according to the Public Surplus website where the auction is being hosted. The current bid for the airplane is $6,100.

The airplane is listed as "non-airworthy", and was de-registered in October 2009, according to the site. "The Town of Marana makes no warranty, guaranty or representation of any kind, expressed or implied, as to the condition, usability, merchantability or fitness for any purpose of the property offered for sale.  Some or all of these items may have been declared unsafe in their present condition by federal or state safety standard," the auction information indicates.

The airplane is currently being stored at Marana Regional Airport. Whoever buys the airplane has to find a way to remove it from the seller's premises "no later than 10 days after 'notice of award'."
