'Nut Rage' Incident Lands Heather Cho In Jail

Sentenced To A Year In Prison For Interfering With A Flight

Former Korean Air executive Cho Hyun-al, who also goes by Heather Cho, has been sentenced to a year in prison by a court in Seoul, South Korea following the now-infamous "Nut Rage" incident.

The Associated Press reports that Cho was found guilty of forcing a flight to change its route, the most serious of the charges she faced.

On December 5, Cho, the daughter of Korean Air's chairman, demanded that the flight she was on taxiing for departure from JFK airport in New York return to the gate so that the chief flight attendant could be removed from the airplane. His infraction had been to serve Cho macadamia nuts in a bag rather than on a plate in first class. She also required the flight attendant to kneel in the aisle and apologize.

Cho was also found guilty of obstructing the flight's captain in the performance of his duties, and forcing a crew member off a plane. She was acquitted of a charge of interfering with a transport ministry investigation.
