Aero-Business 101: Diversification Is A Sound Economic Maneuver

Aerolite 103 Designer Diversified Differently

A sound means of weathering this economy is to horizontally diversify your business. That's because what might be devastating to one aspect of your business, may not be as devastating to another aspect. The key here is to diversify into something that is recession-proof, and in a totally different field of endeavor.

Terry Raber, designer of the Aerolite 103, has taken that step in a different way. He sold his Aerolite 103 business and decided to get into a non-aviation related business. The fruits of that decision was on display at AirVenture in the form of a 2-seat, four-wheeled bicycle that used aircraft construction techniques.

The bike can be used with each person peddling, or just one.  A hybrid model using an electric motor, combined with petal power is also available. You can use the electric power alone, and it will give you 15-20 miles between charging. It uses a constant velocity transmission (CVT), so shifting is not an issue.

Raise the top as shelter from the sun or lower it on shady days. It takes only minutes to fold and unfold the roof. The EZ CRUZE IV is a road-legal bicycle under Federal law. No license or insurance is required. Dimensions are similar to a golf cart.

The cart will travel at 10-11 mph. Production is expected to occur in October 2013. Prices start at $3,500.
