CMA-6800 Display Granted STC On The S-76B/C Helicopter

Includes Approvals For Multiple Models Of The Aircraft

DAC International, a subsidiary of Aero Precision Holdings LP, has received Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval to install the Esterline CMA-6800 LCD Display on the S-76B/C helicopter. The STC includes approvals for the S-76B, S-76C+ and S-76C++ models.

Cisco Hernandez, president of DAC International, said: “We believe that the CMA-6800 display offers many benefits as a form, fit, function replacement for the Honeywell ED-800 products on many of the S-76 helicopters around the world. The CMA-6800 will provide our customers with substantial weight savings that will reduce operating costs and extend the life of existing cockpits.”

DAC International also has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Mexican DGAC (Direccion General de Aeronautica) and Brazil National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) approvals for the Part 25 AML supplemental type certificate for the Esterline CMA-6800 display. The AMLSTC includes the Hawker 800A/B/XP and 1000A/B, Bombardier Challenger 601-3A/3R, Dash 8–100/200/300 and its 415 Superscooper, Cessna Citation 650, Dassault Falcon 900, Fokker 50 and the Gulfstream III.

Jean-Christophe Monfret, vice-president avionics display solutions, Esterline Avionics Systems, said: “Market interest in our innovative new product continues to grow, with over 250 CMA-6800 displays delivered to date. The CMA-6800 LCD Display offers operators a six- to ten-fold increase in reliability over the ED-800, lowering operating costs and further extending the life of their existing cockpits.”

Based on an active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD), the CMA-6800 is a simple replacement solution for Honeywell ED-800 cathode ray tube (CRT) displays. Operators can replace the ED-800s on each aircraft all at once or one at a time, resulting in a simple and flexible replacement solution with minimal disruption to aircraft operations. The display is substantially more reliable and lighter, while offering operational relief to the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) over the ED-800s being replaced. The CMA-6800 has been approved for installation in more than ten (10) aircraft types, including the ATR 42 & 72, and by multiple certification agencies, including Transport Canada, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
