When Ya Gotta Go... TBM Has A Solution

Toilet Option Now Available On Daher-Socata’s TBM Series

OK... ANN wants to finally bring a major and PRESSING issue out into the open... as more and more GA manufacturers try to increase the range of their products (Yay!), they've done NOTHING (Boo!), nothing I tell you, to increase the range of the pilots... OK, only a few have, and Daher-Socata has just joined the mix. Let's face it, its really a bear to struggle all the way up to the Flight Levels when ISA is but a pipe-dream... only to have to head for terra firma well before flight-planned in order to answer nature's call.

For those of you of the TBM persuasion, however, such urgencies no longer mean having to request a slam-dunk approach to Bumfucque International Airpatch's infamous outhouse next to the fuel farm. Thank you, folks...

Daher-Socata is introducing a toilet option on all TBM-series aircraft. This option consists of a swap-out for the TBM’s intermediate left seat with a potty seat, which can be installed and removed within minutes. The potty seat includes a flushing chemical toilet system that is widely used in the marine industry, which is optimized for easy replacement and servicing.

The potty seat perfectly matches the TBM’s interior leather and upholstery, and was developed in partnership with Catherineau – the Bordeaux, France-based aircraft cabin interior specialist and long-time partner of the TBM program. With no weight penalty, this option is priced at $9,990, and is available through the TBM international sales and support network.

“Recent customer surveys have shown that TBM operators are flying increasingly longer distances with their aircraft, and we decided the toilet option was an important step in offering additional passenger comfort,” said Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice-President of the Daher-Socata Airplane Division. “The flushing chemical toilet’s design is optimized to keep things simple, and is another example of how we respond to the operational requirements of TBM owners.”

The potty seat was previewed during last week’s Lakeland event, where a Model Year TBM 850 was displayed with the system. “We received extremely positive feedback, along with several on-the-spot orders for the option – confirming this is a solution that will further increase the usability of all TBM-series aircraft.”

Since its launch in 2005, the TBM 850 program has resulted win more than 200 aircraft sold, and over 150 delivered to customers around the globe.
