The Reno Air Racing Association has announced the cancellation of the 2020 STIHL National Championship Air Races originally scheduled for Sept. 16–20.

The Reno Air Racing Association Board of Directors reiterated their principal concern for the safety and health of all involved and in light of continuing uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus and government-imposed restrictions for large scale events has decided to turn all efforts to 2021. ZeroAvia reportedly conducted the first ever electric-powered flight this week of a commercial-scale aircraft carried out in the UK. The test flight is a significant milestone both for the UK’s net zero and green aviation ambitions, and for ZeroAvia on the journey to demonstrating long-distance zero emission flights in large aircraft. The company successfully completed the first flight of the new version of its powertrain from its base at Cranfield Airport. After well over a year of controversy over the once-certified Boeing 737 MAX, the recertification effort may finally be heading to a conclusion that could get the current airplanes and hundreds more in the pipeline into the air. It's been a convoluted,
political process that has often had less to do with aerodynamics than the glaring headlines that turned the issue into one of the most costly in aviation history. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
