Hemlock Films Doc Continues The Story Of The Red Tail
Project
Filmmaker Adam White has released "Flight of the Red Tail," a
companion piece that follows three years after release of "Red Tail
Reborn." The 12-minute film chronicles the events of the Red Tail
Project, including the fatal crash of pilot and project leader Don
Hinz in 2004, the five-year restoration journey to flight worthy
status, and the captivating stories surrounding its return to the
sky in 2009.
"Flight of the Red Tail had to be made, as the story of
sacrifice didn't end when Red Tail Reborn was finished filming, it
just began," said White. "The film serves as both a strong piece on
its own and also as a companion piece to Red Tail Reborn which
gives the full history on The Red Tail P-51C Mustang Tuskegee
Airmen, the name sake of the famed Alabama trained WWII
veterans."
White added, "While it completes the story of the Red Tail's
return to flight, it's really only the next chapter in what's sure
to be an ongoing legacy."
Emmy Award-winning Red Tail Reborn, produced by White, is an
emotionally driven historical documentary about the Tuskegee
Airmen, the first African-American fighter pilots, who overcame
segregation and challenges to fight for America in WWII, earning
one of the most impressive combat records in American history. Red
Tail Reborn also investigates the Red Tail Project, a group of
Commemorative Air Force restorers determined to educate the world
about these forgotten heroes of history.
In 2008, Red Tail Reborn won three Emmy Awards in the Lower
Great Lakes Region of NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts
and Sciences), in the following categories: Best
Informational/Instructional Program, Best Music Composition/
Arrangement and Best Research. The film began airing nationally on
PBS in February 2008 with the first month's national broadcast
reaching more than 300 stations, broadcasting to over half of
America's homes, and has been re-released several times since its
premiere.
