Big Week Ahead... In A Simulated Kinda Way

ANN Will Be There To Cover It All

It's one of the most fascinating events that ANN attends each year. The world's largest display of simulation training technology, to be held in Orlando, Florida, from December 1 through 4, will showcase how far manned flight has progressed since the Wright Flyer lurched into the air. The event (with a mouthful of a name), the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), will feature more than 400 corporations from around the world, will highlight the latest in flight simulation technology, which is now so realistic that it almost perfectly mimics cockpit reality.

Setting the scene for the commemoration of the anniversary of manned flight two weeks later, the exhibition will display training environments for dozens of aircraft now in use, both civilian and military. Attendees will be able to observe flight operations in simulators featuring an infinite variety of operating environments in actual cockpits and with wrap-around, eye-popping graphics.

While simulation training originated with the military, dramatic leaps in processing power have resulted in transfer of the technology into a wide variety of applications, from ultra-realistic preparation for complex medial procedures to training for first responders, local and national law enforcement, construction, truck and automobile driver training, and most recently, a host of homeland security-related applications.
