Is It Too Early To Think Oshkosh?

Heck No!

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is launching the next century of flight during EAA AirVenture 2004, which will be held July 27-August 2 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh (WI).

The 52nd annual EAA gathering, which draws more than 10,000 airplanes and attendance in excess of 750,000 each year, will pay special attention to the what lies ahead for the world of flight, along with recognizing the legacy that has been built by a century of aviation.

"Over the past decade at Oshkosh, we have recognized the legendary aviators and aircraft that changed the world over the past 100 years," EAA President and AirVenture Chairman Tom Poberezny said. "This year's AirVenture theme, 'Launching the Next Century of Flight,' will look ahead to the amazing innovations that build on this legacy. Some of this new thinking is already becoming reality, assuring that the next century of flight will be as remarkable as the first 100 years."

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh has always been a home for aviation innovation and served as an inspiration for those who see untapped potential in personal flight and in aviation in general. Through the years, many unique designs have debuted at the event. In addition, the people behind the advancements have been welcomed to share their knowledge and inspire others.

"EAA AirVenture is, in many ways, aviation's most comprehensive resource," Poberezny said. "One never knows from where the next big aviation innovation may come - it could be from the homebuilt community, NASA, an airplane company or from the avionics industry. We do know, that all of the people are at AirVenture each year, presenting their discoveries and sharing their expertise. Add that to the personalities and magnificent aircraft on the grounds and it's no wonder that Oshkosh has become synonymous with the world of flight."

EAA has invited a number of aircraft to attend AirVenture 2004 that will give a preview of what may be ahead in the next century of flight. In addition, other programs will highlight special airplanes and people that will influence the second century of aviation, such as Sport Pilot and the EAA Young Eagles program.

Along with special activities, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will again host more than 500 educational forums, seminars and workshops covering the entire spectrum of flight, as well as more than 700 exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations within the aviation industry. Daily afternoon air shows, fly-bys, evening programs and other gatherings will also again be part of the celebration. Expanded facilities for aircraft builders will also be introduced in 2004.
