Classic Aero-TV: 'Drones Are Good For America' - DJI's Adam Lisberg On The FARs

From 2017 (YouTube Version): The Tremendous Commercial Potential for Drones…

The FAA is working hard to keep pace with the explosive developments in the drone industry when it comes to the regulatory environment. That is the assessment of Adam Lisberg, Head U.S. Spokesman for drone giant DJI.

Lisberg spoke to Aero-News CEO and Editor-in-Chief Jim Campbell at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. He said that the FAA has done an "amazing job" recognizing the potential of drones and the "obvious appeal" that it has, and is "pushing the their bureaucracy to  work at what for them is lightning speed to make it easier for people to use drones for safe and responsible productive use."

Lisberg said Part 107 is a good example of the response to the demands of the industry.

Lisberg says that he is encouraged by the FAA's statement that "drones are good for America."

The DJI spokesman says that the top priorities for the FAA should be drone flights over people, flight beyond the line of sight, and the ongoing discussions about a unified traffic management system.

He acknowledged the privacy concerns that non-drone operators have about the aircraft. But he said that many of the issues stem from generational differences. Overall, he said that anything that increases both consumer acceptance and public acceptance of drones "is a good thing."
