Swiss pioneers Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg are ready to resume their attempt to achieve the first Round-The-World Solar Flight with Solar Impulse 2, which is the first solar powered airplane capable of flying day and night on electric power only.

On July 3, last year, Borschberg landed Solar Impulse 2 in Hawaii after a flight of five days and nights over 5,300 miles from Japan. During this flight, the airplane suffered battery damage due to overheating which led to an unforeseen pause in the adventure. Another drone has been blasted from the sky by a homeowner, and this shoot down occurred in Norfork, Arkansas last month. The Baxter Bulletin reports that the UAV owner told law enforcement he had received permission from a nearby restaurant to fly the UAV around the business, and then he flew it down to a nearby lake to take a photograph. On the return trip from the lake it was shot down. The Gulfstream G500 and G600 programs continue to advance as Gulfstream Aerospace has announced it recently joined the wing to the fuselage on the first Gulfstream G600 flight-test article, signifying steady progress in the G600 program. As production continues for the G600, the Gulfstream G500 flight-test program also achieved several milestones to include receiving the program's first Type Inspection Authorization from the FAA. The FAA issued the authorization for inlet compatibility and allowed Gulfstream to perform this testing for certification credit. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
