AeroSports Update: AirVenture Aviation Gateway Park Expands

The EAA AirVenture Aviation Gateway Park Has Something Of Interest For Everyone

EAA tells us that the AirVenture Aviation Gateway Park, a popular destination at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015 as it combined technology, innovation, education, and drones, will be bigger and better than ever this year with expanded programs and activities. The 2016 version will offer more ways to engage with aviation ranging from hands-on experiences to career exploration.

Sponsored by Piper Aircraft, Aviation Gateway Park for 2016 will once again feature the Drone Center/Drone Cage, Innovation Center, Education/Career Center, and a full roster of educational forums. Because of the expansion in all the air-conditioned venues, Aviation Gateway Park will move northwest across James Ray Boulevard from its 2015 location to create more room. Improvements on the site include permanent floors under each tent as well as asphalt walkways between the facilities.

“Aviation Gateway Park’s inaugural year at AirVenture 2015 was a tremendous hit and gave us plenty to build upon this year,” said Dave Chaimson, EAA’s vice president of marketing and business development. “It’s a real draw at Oshkosh because you can see the newest technology and find out about aviation education and careers. It’s also a great location to have fun with drone technology demonstrations. We have several big announcements coming very soon about some of those participants.”

The area will again host an aviation job fair, expanded to a weeklong event in 2016. The College Social and Collegiate Tailgate Party will also be part of the schedule with more than a dozen university aviation programs participating. This year’s forums are focused on a wide array of aviation careers and education opportunities, as well as drones and aviation innovation. Complete details will be announced as they are finalized.

Returning exhibitors and new commitments are already filling Aviation Gateway Park’s existing spaces, but there are some still available. There are also just a few sponsorship opportunities remaining. The Aviation Gateway Park facilities also have limited availability for evening event rentals for group functions. More information on those opportunities are available through EAA’s business development office.
