For those who are interested in the application of electric powered flight for recreational flying, it may come to us by way of an electric airplane designed for training. Last week, the Aero Electric Aircraft Corporation said their 2-seat proof of concept prototype for the “Sun Flyer” solar-electric flight trainer has arrived at its home station at Centennial Airport near Denver. Aircraft final integration and assembly is to begin immediately. EAA has announced two activities during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 that will help introduce and inspire women of all ages to engage and participate in the world of flight. One of the activities is titled, ‘Women Soar You Soar’ that welcomes girls entering grades nine through 12 in a day camp setting. It links these young people with mentors and positive role models for inspiration, participation and fun. Registration is $75 and is open to girls through June 1. The program includes meals, and weeklong admittance to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
