Amendment To 'Revision 6' Immediately In Force
As permitted under the Bilateral Agreement for Safety of Aviation Safety between the EU and USA, an amendment to revision 6 of the Technical Implementation Procedures (TIP) for Airworthiness and Environmental Certification was signed by the EASA & FAA Certification Directors on Friday at the 17th Annual FAA-EASA International Safety Conference in Washington, DC. It enters into force on the date of signature.
This amendment, based in part on industry suggestions, introduces provisions to update the EASA noise database, updates the links to Working Arrangements and Safety Emphasis Items, and provides corrections to TIP revision 6 which entered into force on 22nd March 2018.
The FAA and EASA also signed an update to the Validation Improvement Roadmap at the Safety Conference. The roadmap helps guide further streamlining of validation approvals by allowing each side to optimize reliance on the other’s certification system and eliminate or reduce technical involvement.
Further, the FAA and the European Commission (EC) have signed BOB decision 0008 that will pave the way for reduced involvement of the validating authority and lowers the fees that EASA charges U.S. manufacturers to validate their design approvals.
These documents are further recognition that both the FAA and EASA fully subscribe to the philosophy that safety in today’s global aviation market depends to a great extent on international partnerships between aviation regulators.
