Censys Technologies Provides BVLOS Waiver Applications With 'Great Success Rate'

Allows Flight Within A 22 Square Mile Area

Daytona Beach, FL based commercial drone manufacturer, Censys Technologies, has introduced the Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) FAA waiver application aid, claiming a "great success rate".

With a BVLOS waiver from the FAA, drone operators can operate Censys aircraft out to a 2.7 mile range from the Ground Control Station (GCS). The extra distance from the GCS improves accessible coverage area from below 5 square miles (VLOS) up to over 22 square miles (BVLOS).

Currently, Censys Technologies offers Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) and BVLOS drones with plans to release a hybrid VTOL version of their Sentaero V2 in late 2018.

Censys Technologies offers two options to the BVLOS waiver process:

  • Buy a VLOS drone now and no cost for the BVLOS waiver until the FAA approves a BVLOS waiver for you.
  • Pay half of the estimated waiver application process cost up front with no commitment to buy BVLOS hardware whatsoever. Once the BVLOS waiver is approved, then discussions begin on drone purchase.

The company says that most waiver applications take 90 days for approval.
