Australia's CASA to Host Briefings on Alcohol and Drug Testing

The Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has announced that it will host a series of briefings on alcohol and drug testing for safety-sensitive personnel. The briefings will be held from August 31 through October 11, 2006, in cities throughout Australia. Attendance at these workshops will enable participants to provide informed responses to an NPRM expected to be released in November of 2006.

The NPRM will propose a requirement for certain organizations to have in place an approved alcohol and drug testing program as an Acceptable Means of Compliance. It is likely that anyone who has access to operational areas, or a safety-sensitive position will be subject to a drug and alcohol program, including random testing.

The complete list of dates and locations, as well as registration information, is available on CASA's Web site.
