FAA Provides Questionable FOIA Documents To Skydive Myrtle Beach

No Documented Safety Violations Found In The Agency's Response

The FAA has, about month late, provided documents requested by Skydive Myrtle Beach owner Aaron Holly to back up a 73-page report that was used by Horry County, SC to shut down his skydiving operation at Grand Strand airport.

But the documents received by Holly contained no proof of the alleged 112 safety violations that the county cited in shutting the operation down, though reports indicate that in two cases, 'YELP' reviews were cited.

The Grand Strand Daily reports that the Horry County Department of Airports Director's Determination Report specifically mentioned videos and photographs which would support the allegations, but the FAA in its cover letter denied that it was in possession of any such pictures or videos.

The FAA was a month late, according to FOIA guidelines, and the paper reports that apparently only the intercession of Congressman Tim Rice caused the FAA to produce the documents.

Skydive Myrtle Beach has filed a lawsuit against Horry County and the Department of Airports for illegally shutting down its business.
