Time To Get Specific: ANN Ponders 2014's Best SportPlanes -- We Need YOUR Input!

Thirteen Great Aircraft, Backed By Thirteen Great Companies, Will Be Selected -- WITH YOUR HELP!

To Be Compiled and Edited by ANN CEO/Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell. Assisted By Earl Downs, John Ylinen, Dave Juwel, and Tom Patton.

Now that we've seen all that was new and novel at this year's 2014 US Sport Aviation Expo, in Sebring FL, it's time to get off the dime and fill you in on this year's list of what we consider to be the best "Flyer's Dozen" (thirteen, in all) Sport Aircraft available for an embattled flying community that needs value now more than ever before.

BUT... not before we get YOUR input.

All this LSA and SportAv goodness represents what we feel to be the very best that the industry can field at the moment and is but a small part of the valued data, insight, and critiques we plan to render in the Third Edition of our upcoming SportPlane Resource Guide.

The list of 13 airplanes has, heretofore, been heavily weighted toward the LSA segment but often contains a number of exceptional aircraft from the E-AB segment as well as E-LSA and S-LSA. And please note... these birds are, "the real deal... it was not good enough for an airplane to simply be very good to make the list... they have to encompass the whole package -- good companies, good customer service and GREAT airframes."

So... here's the deal... we're going to be putting together profiles of all the likely suspects and we want YOUR input as to what airframes deserve top honors this year. Unlike some other so-called awards, our 'Best of Breed' is assembled by experts with a true passion for sport aviation and boast tremendous long-term expertise in the field... but also unlike other such programs; we understand, appreciate and want YOUR input... because the ultimate arbiter of a truly successful SportPlane is one that the sport aviation community Judges and selects for themselves.

SO... you have a few days in which to think about the aircraft that YOU feel deserve such recognition and submit them to us so that we can, together, make a proper selection for 2014.

ALSO... do not forget that these selections will be featured in the upcoming FREE SportPlane Mini-Guide... an introductory E-Book that will give you solid basic data on the SportPlane and LSA movement and whet your whistle for the MASSIVE SportPlane Resource Guide now under development.

Provided as an E-Book and available in either Kindle, EPUB or PDF formats, The SportPlane Mini-Guide will contain a dozen chapters and sections detailing introductory info about the SportPlane/LSA World, including topics like ‘How to Choose a SportPlane’, Questions YOU need to ask the Manufacturers and others, a ‘Know Before You Buy’ lesson containing some expert S-LSA Airplane Buyer's Advice, as well as our highly anticipated annual Flyer’s Dozen list of the Best LSA/SportPlanes Of 2014, a list of important resources and much more.

While the guide covers the first of many topics that will be covered in the massive 2000 page 3rd edition of the SportPlane Resource Guide, Campbell worries that there is a dearth of objective and critical information available to those considering the purchase of a SportPlane or becoming a Sport Pilot, and wanted to get some expert, solid, basic data out right away as he and his crew work away on the massive SPRG, itself.

Aero-News, Aero-TV, Airborne and KSP staffers attended Sebring this year with a critical eye toward checking out the latest offerings, trends and technologies available to potential SportPlane flyers.

We welcome suggestions from the industry about potential topics and issues that should be considered for inclusion in either the MINI-Guide or the 3rd Edition SportPlane Resource Guide.

For those wishing to get a copy of the Mini-Guide, a simple email to SPRG-MINI@aero-news.net , and a simple selection of either the EPUB, Kindle of Adobe Acrobat (PDF) Version, will get you a reservation for the guide as soon as it is released in the coming weeks. Other trusted partners and outlets will distribute the Mini-Guide, as well.

FMI: Here are MY suggestions for the 2014 'Best of Breed' SportPlane of the Year List!, www.sportplane.com, sprg-mini@aero-news.net (please select EPUB, Kindle or Adobe Acrobat version), www.aero-news.net, www.kindredspirit.com
