Classic Aero-TV: Hobbico's Michael Zaborowski -- The State of Model Aviation

From 2015 (YouTube Version): A Model Aviation Juggernaut Profiles The Basics Of Getting Airborne Via Radio Control

While at eFest 2015, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, met with Michael Zaborowski who works in research and development for Hobbico Products.

Jim brings up his view that model aircraft can be divided into categories such as, fixed wing, rotorcraft, multirotor, and FPV. He asked Zaborowski to expand on this concept.

Zaborowski replies by providing his opinion of how each one of these categories fits into the picture. You need to watch the video for the details, and you’ll find his opinions are interesting. When he gets into the discussion of multirotor hobbyists, he looks ahead and suggest that this may break into two groups; one area would be for utility use such as video cameras, and he sees another area of interest being more related to sport flying.

He says that First Person View, known as FPV, is relatively new and is advancing quickly. He points out that most modelers have always imagined being inside the cockpit of their aircraft, and FPV allows this to happen.

Zaborowski concludes by bringing up the subject of simulators for RC aircraft, and he goes into some details about the sophistication that now exists in this product line. This video is perfect if you’re interested in the big picture of what’s available out there in RC model aircraft.
