Aero-Linx!
Scouring the information super airways can sometimes be a tough,
if educational, task for the Aero-News staff... but it also allows
us to check out some truly neat and exciting sites, so it's not
that bad a gig. On any given day, we may check dozens (and often
hundreds) of different sources for story ideas, and facts
confirmation. And, as is the nature of our business, much of this
is done on the Internet.
Recently, the ANN gang decided we probably shouldn't keep some
of the neat sites, info resources, and organizations we've
discovered to ourselves... so we decided to bring you Aero-Linx.
These are the sites that WE check out -- when we need added
perspective, a new spin on a day's topic... or just want to escape
into cyber-aero-space for awhile.
There are A LOT of truly valuable resources out there... from
pages devoted to nearly every kind of aircraft imaginable, to some
well-thought-out blogs, to the official websites of such
organizations as AOPA, EAA, and NAFI -- you name it and its
probably out there.
Look for some of our favorite sites, coming each day to ANN via
Aero-Linx. Suggestions for future Aero-Linx segments
are always welcome, as well.
Aero-Linx: Strategic Air And Space Museum
The next time you happen to find yourself between Omaha and
Lincoln (NE) consider a pit stop at the Strategic Air and Space
Museum. The vision of General Curtis LeMay, the original Strategic
Air Command museum was located at Offutt AFB, and its first
airplane arrived in 1959. In 1998 the museum was relocated to its
present place for better accessibility. A special exhibit, The Lost
Spacecraft, will be center stage January 28 – May 7, 2006.
The exhibit spotlights Liberty Bell 7, her rescue from the depths
of the sea and her recovery. Guest astronauts and others are
scheduled for speaking engagements at the museum during this
time.
