GoPro UAV Will Miss Christmas Sales

Company Says It Will Bring Its Aircraft To Market In 2016

For those of you who were hoping to buy the new GoPro UAV this holiday season, you're going to be disappointed. The sport camera maker says it won't be releasing its own aircraft until sometime next year.

And there have still been no images posted of the actual aircraft ... just the one video said to be taken from a prototype GoPro UAV. We do, however, now have a name. The GoPro UAV will be marketed as the 'Karma', according to the company website.

We reported back in October that GoPro had announced that it would be building its own aircraft and stabilization system. In the video released at that time, GoPro was adamant that the images presented "have not been stabilized in post production."

The company also pointed out that the video was "captured using a developmental prototype of GoPro's quadcopter and stabilization system."

GoPro says on its Karma web page only that the new aircraft is "coming in 2016." And, if you join their email list, you could win one of 100 Karma UAVs they'll be giving away in conjunction with the launch.
