Eviation Taxi-Tests Alice After CEO Named

Interim CEO Gregory Davis Gets a Promotion Before Promising Taxi Performance for E-Commuter

Eviation has been hard at work on their all-electric commuter aircraft, completing their first high-speed taxi test days after announcing the installation of Gregory Davis as Chief Executive Officer.

The company updated aviation enthusiasts with a short video of the test, showing their twin engine (or, twin motor) aircraft accelerating down the runway with relaxed stability before nosing up and easing the front wheel off the tarmac a couple times for good measure. With the test successful, it was handshakes all around before heading back to the hangar to prepare for the next milestone.

The successful test was a fun way to ring in Eviation’s new CEO - or would be, had Gregory Davis not already been business as usual. Davis has been Eviation president since May of 2021, and has served as interim CEO since February 2022. His firm appointment as CEO comes as little surprise given a continuous stream of small victories for Eviation. As advertised, their electric commuter aircraft, the Alice, should sport a 2,500 lb payload, 250 knot cruise, and 440 nm max range once complete.

Davis, a commercial pilot and licensed engineer, has been a good fit for the company, bringing more than 15 years of industry experience to bear during his tenure at the company. Prior to his time at Eviation, he worked as vice president of customer service and product support for Viking Air Limited, the manufacturer for a handful of classic utility aircraft like the Twin Otter and Series 400. Before that, he cut his engineering teeth at Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, building a resume suitable to oversee the creation of the first generation of electric commuter aircraft.

“Gregory has a profound understanding of aerospace engineering and a true passion for aviation that will propel Eviation forward as we continue to pioneer electric flight,” said Allen Page, chairman. “Gregory has been deeply involved in all aspects of the company’s business strategy and day-to-day operations over the last year. Under his leadership, the team has made incredible strides in preparing the Alice, our all-electric commuter aircraft, for its imminent first flight, as well as toward our objectives of FAA certification and commercialization.”

“I am extremely proud to take on the role of CEO at Eviation as we work to shape the future of flight, and create a new era of transportation that is both environmentally and economically sustainable,” said Davis. “Eviation’s groundbreaking work in the aviation industry has positioned the company as a market leader, and I am inspired to be at the forefront of innovation with the potential for such positive impact.”
