Breckenridge, TX Once Again Has An Airshow

Returning After Being Dormant For Many Years.

Beginning in 1977, the Breckenridge, TX Airshow was considered one of the premier warbird gatherings in the country. But like so many airshows, it fell on difficult circumstances and was cancelled after a run of some two decades.

Now, the airshow is returning to Breckenridge-Stephens County Airport on Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-28.  According to the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce, that organization and Ezell Aviation have teamed up to resurrect the airshow and make it "bigger and better". "We believe bringing the airshow back in 2017 will provide affordable family entertainment, a positive impact on the local economy and be an inspiration to the next generation," the Chamber writes on their website.

Among the performers for the airshow is "Tora, Tora Tora", the Commemorative Air Force’s recreation of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that signaled the beginning of the American involvement in World War II. Designed as a living history lesson, “Tora, Tora, Tora” is intended as a memorial to all the soldiers on both sides who gave their lives for their countries.

Several area aviation museums will be bringing aircraft to the show, including the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, Lewis Air Legends, The Mid America Flight Museum, and The Texas Flying Legends Museum.

Tickets begin at $15.00 and go all the way to $125.00 for a VIP pass on the day of the show. A photo pit will also be available for professional and amateur photographers who want to get up-close shots of the airplanes during the show.
