Unveiled: LH-10 Ellipse

Making Its Debut In France This Week

LH Aviation unveils its new homebuilt aircraft this week, during the Avia Expo show. The LH-10 Ellipse is a two place aircraft with mid mounted engine and pusher propeller.

LH Aviation, based in Merville, France, displayed for the first time a full scale fuselage mock up. What makes the LH-10 Ellipse stand out is its composite construction and wide speed range. Sightseeing at 100 kts, pilot and passenger can enjoy exceptional visibility and low noise while burning only 1.8 gallons of fuel per hour. But this aircraft can also fly long distances at 200 kts, leaving most light airplanes on the market way behind.

Thanks to state of the art high lift devices and a remarkable thrust to weight ratio, the LH-10 Ellipse can operate from small, unimproved airfields. Power is provided by a Masschi 105, a 105hp, liquid cooled flat four engine. It drives a four bladed automatic variable pitch pusher propeller through a carbon fibre drive shaft.

LH Aviation is a major shareholder of Masschi Motor Company, which is developing the Masschi 105 The LH-10 Ellipse will be available either with fixed or electric retractable landing gear. Full span flaperons give good roll control and high lift at low speeds.

The aircraft is built according to the strict requirements of the FAR-23. The LH-10 Ellipse was developed and designed completely on computers, requiring the equivalent of 1.5 tons of paper.

The LH-10 Ellipse will be available as a quick built kit, with most composite structural parts bonded and ready for assembly. LH Aviation will offer builder formation courses and builder assistance that will enable even those without previous aircraft building experience to completely finish the LH-10 Ellipse.

LH Aviation was created in spring 2004 by Sebastien Lefebvre and Frederic Hubschwerlen. Design of the LH-10 Ellipse started in June 2003, when both engineers decided to design a two seat airplane that fulfills their dream of a high performance, high quality and high technology aircraft.

Prototype construction began in September 2003, and the first flight is expected before 2005.
