Report: Ethiopian Pilots Followed Procedures Prior To 737 MAX Accident

Minister Of Tranport Says Crew 'Performed All The Procedures Provided By The Manufacturer'

The Ethiopian Minister of Transport says that the crew of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, a Boeing 737 MAX which went down shortly after takeoff March 10th and led to the worldwide grounding of the airplanes, "repeatedly" followed Boeing's published procedures but were unable to prevent the accident.

Ethiopia's transport minister, Dagmawit Moges delivered the preliminary report on the accident on Thursday, according to multiple media sources including Business Insider.

Following the release of the report, Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Group posted a statement on its website acknowledging the preliminary report of the accident of ET302/10 March, 2019 and expressing appreciation for the hard work of the investigation team.

The preliminary report clearly showed that the Ethiopian Airlines Pilots who were commanding Flight ET302/10 March have followed Boeing's recommended and FAA's approved emergency procedures to handle the most difficult emergency situation created on the airplane, the statement said. Despite their hard work and full compliance with the emergency procedures, it was very unfortunate that they could not recover the airplane from the persistence of nose diving. As the investigation continues with more detailed analysis, as usual we will continue with our full cooperation with the investigation team.
