'Up Up & Away' Balloon Festival Begins May 6

Lakeland's biggest LTA Aircraft Event Signs Additional Bands

The Up Up & Away Florida Hot Air Balloon Festival has announced its new additions to the musical lineup, bringing out the Rico Monaco Band, Epic Band, Audio Exchange, Franchise Players, Tracey Coryell, and Stacy Gabel. The festival says there's still plenty of room for sponsors, volunteers, and attendees before things kick off on the weekend of May 6.

The festival is run by a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit made to promote family friendly aviation, as well as provide a fun springtime day out to bring the community together and enjoy the special, laid back experience inherent to balloonery. the group describes the event as "an educational and community exposition for residents and visitors that includes hot air balloon launches, twilight glows and tethered rides; live music, vendors, food, and a myriad of activities for attendees of all ages."

Tickets are on sale now, with early bird pricing saving a tidy sum, as well as $50 family passes only available online before opening. Children 6 and under are free, and discounted rates are available for seniors, active and retired military, LE, and EMS personnel. Camping and RV sites are available, but as with all events at the Sun n' Fun campus, bookings go quickly. Tent camping bookings can obtain a discounted, 3-day 2-night pass for the event, with variable check out times throughout the weekend. The festival is "a rain or shine event", say the producers, and the sunny Florida weather has always been very agreeable in the history of the event, and campers are usually treated to some very nice nighttime views as the lit balloons return home to roost.
