NGC To Break Ground On Space Assembly And Test (M-SAT) Facility

Represents $20 Million Investment In New 25,000 Square Foot Building

Northrop Grumman Corporation is investing $20 million to construct a new 25,000 square foot facility to handle space payload integration programs. Construction begins this month and will be completed by a Maryland-based construction company during the summer of 2015. The building will house up to 80 engineers and technicians working on space systems assembly, integration and testing.

U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin and U.S. Reps. C. A. Dutch Ruppersberger and John Sarbanes are expected to attend the groundbreaking. They will be accompanied by Gloria Flach, corporate vice president and president, Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, and other company officials.

The ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. EDT Monday, July 14, at the Back lot of Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems' BWI Campus in Linthicum, MD.

Northrop Grumman has been a pioneer in designing and producing payloads, sensors, systems and solutions for use in space for more than 50 years. From the Gemini Rendezvous Radar Pod to the Apollo 11 Lunar Camera that broadcast man's first steps on the moon, the company's space heritage also includes the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program, the Defense Support Program and the Space-Based Infrared System.
