Just A Little Bit More! CAF Announces $25k Stretch Goal

Effort Will Support Vital Aircraft Restoration Projects

After successfully achieving the fundraising goal of $150,000 for the annual 12 Planes of Christmas campaign, the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) has set a stretch goal to raise an additional $25,000 as part of the 12 Planes of Christmas campaign supporting aircraft restoration efforts.

The CAF launched the annual fundraising campaign on December 1 online at www.supportcaf.org. The campaign features different aircraft located across the country, with each flying artifact telling a different story. “We are in awe of the generosity of our supporters this year,” said CAF President and CEO Hank Coates.

“It is heartening to know so many people still understand and appreciate the importance of keeping these iconic aircraft flying to continue to tell the stories of those who fought for our freedom during World War II. We have several very deserving projects to support this year and I am so pleased at the level of participation from our supporters across the country, and across the world.”

Each year 12 aircraft are selected to be featured in the fundraising campaign. The aircraft are different types, come from different parts of the country, and each tell a unique story. Donors can support one of these aircraft or several other deserving CAF aircraft which have been added to the donation website.

Those who find it hard to choose or want to support the aircraft restoration projects that need the most help can donate to The Restoration Grant Fund. This matching fund plays an integral part in restoring and maintaining warbirds in the CAF’s fleet of historic aircraft.

“Since 2015, over $1 million dollars has been raised to directly support the restoration and maintenance of the CAF’s fleet. Some aircraft in the fleet are the last, or close to the last, flying example of that aircraft type left in the world,” said Flying Museum Chairman Alan Brooks. The 12 Planes of Christmas Fundraiser runs through December 31.
