17th Annual Electric Aircraft Symposium Imminent

New Student Discounts Announced

Representatives of more than forty of the world’s leading electric aircraft developers will contribute their expertise and insight to the 17th Annual Electric Aircraft Symposium (EAS).

Hosted by the Vertical Flight Society (VFS), a non-profit technical organization dedicated to the advancement of vertical flight, the event will be held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on 22 and 23 July—the weekend prior to the Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) AirVenture 2023.

Organized by industry and government stakeholders in the electric aircraft and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) sectors, the Electric Aircraft Symposium is the world’s longest-running electric aviation technology conference.

2023’s iteration of the Electric Aircraft Symposium will feature a discussion of the U.S. government’s Federal AAM Interagency Working Group (FAAMIWG) undertaken by a panel of AAM potentates comprising: Annie Petsonk, Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT); Peter Irvine, Deputy Director, Office of Aviation Analysis and Executive Lead for Aviation Policy, DOT; Dr. Parimal Kopardekar, NASA Advanced Research Institute (NARI) Director, NASA; and Darshan Divakaran, Lead for Airspace Innovation and Prime Partnerships, U.S. Air Force AFWERX.

A sounder of 22 federal bureaucrats, the Federal AAM Interagency Working Group was convened by the Biden White House in October 2022 for the ostensible purposes of supporting the integration of AAM vehicles into the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS). The group is further tasked with ensuring the United States remains at the global aerospace industry’s forefront.

All told, 2023’s EAS will see experts from across the electric aircraft and AAM industries participate in a total of 12 in-depth, moderated panel discussions germane to topics the likes of community integration, electric aircraft development, personal/private AAM aircraft, propulsion (including hydrogen-electric), regional air mobility, and the development of standards for the vetting and certification of electric/AAM aircraft.

Whisper CEO Mark Moore will deliver the event’s keynote address.

Additional companies participating in the event include: AeroTEC, AIR, Archer, Beta Technologies, Community Air Mobility Initiative (CAMI), Diamond Aircraft, Electric Power Systems, Elfly, Evolito, H55, Hydroplane, Joby Aviation, Jetson Aero, Limosa, LuftCar, Opener, Overair, Rolls-Royce Electrical, SkyDrive, Textron eAviation, Væridion, Wisk, and ZEVA.

Executives from each of the antecedent companies will provide updates and insights specific thereto.

In keeping with EAS tradition, each moderated panel session will include a question-and-answer discussion during which attendees and presenters may interact directly.

EAS is a hybrid event held contemporaneously at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Culver Family Welcome Center and online.

Prior to the event’s commencement, virtual attendees will receive an email communication containing a link and instructions by which the live virtual sessions may be accessed.

Established in 1943 as the American Helicopter Society by the visionaries of the early helicopter industry, the Vertical Flight Society espouses the belief that technological cooperation and collaboration are essential to the development and proliferation of new aircraft technologies and types. As the American Helicopter Society championed the advent and rise of the conventional helicopter, so the Vertical Flight Society fosters the advancement of today’s revolutionary rotorcraft.
