Transportation Partners Awards Major Avionics Contract To Rockwell Collins

Selection Includes 230 Boeing 737s

Rockwell Collins has announced that Transportation Partners, an integrated aviation services company based in Singapore and Dublin specializing in tailored leasing solutions, has selected a comprehensive suite of its avionics for 201 Boeing 737 MAX and options for 29 Next-Generation Boeing 737 aircraft. Highlighted Rockwell Collins systems include MultiScan ThreatTrack weather radar, GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver, and Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance (TCAS II) traffic computer TTR-2100. Deliveries will begin in early 2017.

“As air traffic increases in the Asia Pacific region, having advanced and reliable systems for detecting weather threats, precision navigation, and aircraft avoidance will become even more critical,” said Jim Walker, vice president and managing director, Asia Pacific for Rockwell Collins. “We’re honored by the trust Transportation Partners is putting in Rockwell Collins for another order of this magnitude.”

“Safety is of greatest concern for us and airlines, especially with the high volume of passengers ferried every day, and Rockwell Collins helps airlines by keeping them clear of weather threats and other traffic, and by enabling them to fly more efficiently,” said John Duffy, Chief Operating Officer for Transportation Partners.

Transportation Partners is a leasing company and affiliate of Indonesia’s Lion Group, which is the umbrella group for Lion Air, Batik Air, Malindo Air, Thai Lion Air and Wings Air.

MultiScan ThreatTrack goes beyond hail and lightning prediction within a thunderstorm cell and alerts pilots to these significant threats adjacent to or above the cell. In addition, the new radar is the first in the industry to feature two levels of turbulence detection—severe and ride quality—which more accurately informs flight crews of the type of turbulence in their path.

Unique to MultiScan ThreatTrack is its patented Predictive Overflight Protection, which tracks thunderstorm cells ahead and below the aircraft, measures growth rate, predicts bow-wave turbulence and indicates potential threats in the aircraft’s flight path.

Rockwell Collins’ GLU-925 MMR is the first certified GPS Landing System receiver and enables high-integrity navigation, including RNP AR, Category III ILS and Category I Global Positioning Landing System approaches. The MMR also enables GPS position and availability requirements for ADS-B Out mandates.

Rockwell Collins’ TTR-2100 reliably enables TCAS II operations and future ADS-B In applications using a common traffic computer architecture, which reduces weight and enables more capabilities compared to previous-generation systems.

In addition to ThreatTrack, MMR and TCAS II, Transportation Partners selected Rockwell Collins’ ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-2100 Distance Measuring Equipment, VHF-2100 Transceiver, HFS-900D Radio, TPR-901 Mode S Transponder, and VOR-900 Omnidirectional Radio.
