If Your Heart Says P-51 But Your Checkbook Says No, Take A Look At The V8 Powered P85 Kit Airplane
The P85 is a derivation of Altitude Group’s Radial Rocket airframe, with changes to accommodate a V8 firewall forward powerplant package utilizing the proven, high performance LS series of V8 engines. It appears this engine and airframe combination is designed to get your Walter Mitty juices flowing.
P85 initial program focus is on a powerful yet relatively low cost firewall forward installation, featuring a 1.8:1 ratio prop speed reduction unit, fixed pitch prop and an engine ECU controlling electronic fuel injection, resulting in single power lever engine operation. The ability to utilize 91 octane Mogas enhances the economics associated with the P85 design.
The P85 features a two seat, rugged composite airframe designed for aerobatic flight as well as comfortable cross country cruising.
Altitude Group LLC is offering a Streamline kit purchasing structure that allows builders to purchase, directly from suppliers, commonly available and over the counter hardware, materials and equipment previously supplied in the airframe kit. The result for builders is a substantial reduction in the overall cost of the Radial Rocket airframe. Builders are now able to purchase these items to suit individual schedules and budgets. With the purchase of a P85 Streamline Airframe Kit, purchasers receive a detailed list of additional hardware, materials and equipment used in the airframe assembly process.
In addition to Streamline Airframe Kits, a Fast Build option and custom build assist services are available.
Altitude Group LLC has been manufacturing and marketing the Radial Rocket TD and Radial Rocket RG line of high performance composite airframe kits since 2011. The P85 is the newest addition to the product line.
