Genesys Aerosystems Offers New Line Of Digital Radios

The Digital Radio Line Integrates To The Genesys Avionics Suite Adding Increasing Integration

Genesys Aerosystems, a provider of EFIS and autopilot solutions, has announced a new product line, the Genesys Digital Radio (GDR).

The Genesys Digital Radio is a family of remote-mounted, software-definable radios. They feature combined VOR/localizer/glideslope and marker beacon navigation and VHF communication with a frequency range of 118-136 MHz or 118-156 MHz and 25 or 8.33 kHz channelization with transmit power of 16 or 25 watts.  Embedded UHF 225-400MHz communication is available as an option.  The radio is designed to interface to a host controller/display that has the capability to control the navigation and communications functions via RS-232, RS-422, or ARINC-429 serial interfaces.

“The GDR is a powerful radio line that is customizable and is the perfect complement to our avionics suite, including our EFIS, autopilot, and sensor product lines,” said Gordon Pratt, vice president of Business Development. “Special mission customers have been looking for a cost-effective yet feature-rich radio solution and we are excited to provide them a growing number of options.”

The GDR is capable of voice communications between aircraft, ground stations, and other aircraft, as well as receiving and processing VOR beacon signals for navigation and instrument landing systems (LOC/GS/MBR). The radio can operate up to 55,000 feet, and between -55 and +70 Celsius. With 8.33 and 25 kHz spacing, the GDR is capable of operating around the world. Finally, the radio has achieved Design Assurance Level “A,” the highest level in safety assessment for software, as well as MIL-STD 704E and 810G accommodating all segments of the aviation market.

“This new radio integrates well with our complete avionics suite solution or has the option to work as a standalone unit.  This type of flexibility and versatility of features is why the industry is seeing a growing number of customers chose the Genesys modernized avionics suite” Pratt said.
