Two NASA astronauts splashed down safely in the Gulf of Mexico Sunday for the first time in a commercially built and operated American crew spacecraft, returning from the International Space Station to complete a test flight that marks a new era in human spaceflight.

SpaceX’s Crew Dragon, carrying Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley, splashed down under parachutes in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Pensacola, Florida at 2:48 p.m. EDT Sunday and was successfully recovered by SpaceX. The U.S. Navy’s first Black female tactical air (TACAIR) pilot received her Wings of Gold July 31, marking a significant milestone for Naval Aviation. Virginia native Lt. j.g. Madeline G. Swegle was designated a naval aviator and received her Wings of Gold with 25 classmates during a small ceremony at Naval Air Station (NAS) Kingsville, Texas. Swegle is assigned to the “Redhawks” of Training Squadron (VT) 21 under Training Air Wing 2 at NAS Kingsville and completed her final undergraduate TACAIR training flight in a T-45C Goshawk jet trainer aircraft July 7. Five months after announcing a partnership to develop online aerobatics training, Sporty's and Patty Wagstaff have introduced a second course, Basic Aerobatics. This detailed course is a great complement to in-airplane training and explores three essential aerobatic maneuvers in all their varieties: loops, rolls, and spins. In Basic Aerobatics, viewers will go flying in a Super Decathlon over the beautiful beaches of St. Augustine, Florida, for a detailed look at everything from basic loops to hesitation rolls. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
