Aero-TV: MGL’s Mighty Mite – The Tremendously Versatile Discovery Lite

Small But Feature-Packed, The Discovery Lite Impresses

While at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014, ANN’s News Editor, Tom Patton, checks in at the MGL exhibition to see how glass panel displays can fit into the sport plane and experimental airplane market.

Matt Liknaitzky, President of MGL Avionics USA, said their new and long-awaited product is called the “Discovery Lite.”

The Discovery Lite is a cool, pint-sized EFIS that has all the features anyone could want in a light sport or experimental airplane, and it’s all built right into one package. This little beauty requires only a GPS antenna and electrical power to be ready to go for basic EFIS operation.

Separate units for engine monitoring and such things as ADS-B are also designed especially for this system. It looks like the whole unit was planned to provide choices and easy installation which means a homebuilder might not need any pro help to install it.

Rather than read about it, watch the video. It could be the answer for upgrading or for initial installation in a new homebuilt airplane. During the video you’ll see a good demonstration of the features of this “big performer in a small package.”
