ICG CIS-100 Will Provide WIFI, Voice Connectivity For C210, Boeing 777

Baysys Technologies Seeking STC For Installation

Virginia-based BaySys Technologies, an interior engineering, design, completions, and conversion firm, is pursuing an STC from the FAA to add voice and e-mail connectivity to aircraft at both ends of its customer spectrum ... a single engine Cessna 210 and a Boeing B-777 ... using ICG's NxtMail/ CIS-100 core Iridium system .

BaySys Technologies has developed a mounting kit using a concept that combines an ICG NxtMail Server and CIS-100 into an easily installed package. The mounting kit enables aircraft that are not otherwise equipped to easily add worldwide Blackberry email connectivity and a single channel of Iridium voice services. The kit design was completed in Accomac in March and the STC is expected to be completed by the end of April 2011 on both aircraft types.

“This is a unique approach to add a single channel of Satcom and Blackberry connectivity to a single engine aircraft or to supplement the existing cabin communications of an air transport category airplane,” said Ray Larkin, Regional Manager at ICG. BaySys Technologies Director of Flight Operations, David Lumgair explained, “This started out as a plan to add Blackberry messaging to our Cessna executive aircraft, but as we were developing the installation, it became obvious that we could offer the same package to our VIP completions. The design combines the CIS- 100 and NxtMail server into a small, lightweight platform that can be easily installed onto most aircraft and it’s economical and very efficient. We anticipate a lot of orders.”
