Three R44 Cadets And Three R22s Head To The Other Side of The World

Robinson Helicopter Company delivered three R44 Cadets and three R22s to Robinson dealer General Aviation Services of Hunan, China. This marks the first delivery of an R44 Cadet to China. All six helicopters were ordered on behalf of YiFei General Aviation Company which specializes in helicopter management, operation, and training. YiFei has been using Robinsons since 2016. Impressed by the helicopters' performance, the company elected to purchase additional R22s and the R44 Cadets, bringing its current Robinson fleet to nine.

Gogo Announces Layoffs

Personnel Actions Are  in Response to COVID-19-Related Declines in Airline Traffic

Gogo has announced that effective May 4, it will furlough approximately 60% of its workforce and reduce compensation for most other employees as part of a broad-based cost reduction plan due to the impact of COVID-19. The furloughs will impact more than 600 employees across all three of Gogo's business segments. The time and duration of those furloughs will vary based on workload in individual departments.

Avilution, a software-based avionics solutions producer, based in Huntsville, AL, brought a new version of its glass panel to AirVenture in 2018. The panel is designed to fit in a Panther LSA airplane, which has a cockpit that measures only 28 inches wide, according to company founder Mark Spencer. The focus, Spencer said, was presenting the information in a large, easy-to-read format. The company has developed a web-based configuration tool, which allows the user to configure the panel on a computer and then upload it into the airplane.

Air Canada to Temporarily Suspend Transborder U.S. Flights

Last Flights Between Canada And The US Will Operate April 26, But Will Resume May 22

Air travel is about to get an additional restriction... of sorts. Air Canada will suspend scheduled service to the U.S. after April 26 as a result of the agreement between the governments of Canada and the United States to extend border restrictions by an additional 30 days, effective today. Air Canada plans to resume service to the US May 22, subject to any further government restrictions beyond that date. The airline is waiving change fees for affected customers with bookings during this period to enable them to reschedule their travel with no additional fee.

Pipistrel Helps Secure 100,000 Masks From China

Finding Transportation Had Been A Bigger Challenge Than Securing The Equipment

The European-based Slovenian/Italian aircraft manufacturer, Pipistrel has helped secure a donation of 100,000 medical face masks from China through its Pipistrel Asia-Pacific subsidiary and the city of Jurong where it is located. A total of 30,000 medical masks and 300 thermometers, donated by Jurong, were symbolically handed over in Ljubljana on Tuesday by China's Ambassador Wang Shunqing to Ajdovscina Mayor Tadej Beocanin. Also already in Slovenia, are 60,000 masks donated by Pipistrel and its Chinese subsidiary, while10,000 more are expected in coming days, along with 1,100 testing kits.

ATLAS Is Designed To Carry A Payload Specific To The Mission

The aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 that left 168 people dead sparked the work being done now by Oklahoma State University’s (OSU) Unmanned Systems Research Institute to help first responders. 25 years ago, there was no technology available that could help rescuers locate victims without risking their own lives to climb throughout what was left of the Murrah Building. With this in mind, the now deceased Jon Hansen of the Oklahoma City Fire Department said that first responders needed a better way to conduct searches of rooms and communicate with the injured without having rescuers climbing through an unstable structure.
