NTSB Publishes Factual Report on Halladay Icon A5 Crash

The CAP System Was Not Deployed, And The CAP Cockpit Handle Pin Was In Its Installed Position

On November 7, 2017, about 1204 eastern standard time, an Icon Aircraft A5 special light sport amphibious airplane, N922BA, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Clearwater, Florida. The private pilot sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. The airplane departed from Island Ford Lake in Odessa, Florida, about 1147. According to data from the Icon digital to analog (DAC) data memory unit that was installed on the airplane, the airplane climbed to a GPS altitude of 1,909 ft and proceeded north for 4 nautical miles (nm) before turning west tow

NTSB Prelim: C210 Downed After Power Loss

Water And Other Contaminants Were Recovered From The Left And Right Header Fuel Tanks

On March 25, 2020, about 2155 UTC, a Cessna T210 airplane, N5553C, experienced a partial loss of engine power near Waxahachie, TX. The private pilot sustained serious injury. The airplane sustained substantial damage. The personal flight was conducted under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and it is unknown if a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight plan had been filed for the flight. Witnesses observed the airplane takeoff and reported the engine did not sound like it was making takeoff power.

The Aeroshell Aerobatic Team performed a flyover of Monroe and West Monroe Louisiana, joined by backseat rider and Congressman Ralph Abraham, M.D. The flight is a tribute to first responders and healthcare workers of the community recently hit by severe storms. Air Force Makes Final Basing Decision For Next Two Air National Guard F35A Bases

The Department of the Air Force selected Truax Field, Wisconsin, and Dannelly Field, Alabama, for the next two Air National Guard F-35A Lightning II locations. F-35As will begin to replace many of the older fourth-generation aircraft, but the Air Force will continue to fly a mix of fifth and fourth-generation fighters into the 2040s. This will allow the Air Force to maintain enough fighters to meet combatant commander requirements, provide required training, and allow a reasonable and uninterrupted deployment tempo for the force.

USS Ford Concluded Its First-Ever Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) Carrier Qualifications (CQ)

The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) concluded its first-ever Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) carrier qualifications (CQ) for Naval aviators while underway in the Atlantic Ocean, April 4. The mission of the FRS is to train pilots, naval flight officers and maintainers on the specific front-line aircraft they have been assigned to fly. Some pilots may be training for current and upcoming deployments, where they will relieve currently-deployed pilots serving in fleet squadrons.
