Pipistrel Receives Two Prestigious Awards At Oshkosh

Recognized For Engineering And Personal Aircraft Design

The Pipistrel Aircraft Team received two prestigious awards at AirVenture, which wrapped up on Sunday. The company was the recipient of the 'Dr. August Raspet Memorial Award', which has been presented annually by the EAA since 1960 to "a person who has made outstanding advancements in the field of light aircraft design."

Iron-On Polyester Fabric Covering For Light Aircraft

The ORATEX covering for General Aviation aircraft was actually designed for model aircraft. In 2001, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland, developed a microlight glider that used off-the-shelf model aircraft covering to cover the glider. The project was very successful and led to the development of a new covering for full-sized aircraft.

SPA President Dan Weseman Says First Prototype Progressing Towards Completion

Among the things AirVenture is known for is the introduction of new designs in the kit-built arena, and as the winds picked up a bit and a sprinkle or two hit fell outside his booth at AirVenture, Sports Performance Aircraft President Dan Weseman told me that single-seat Panther prototype is still 3 months away from completion.
