FAA Proposes $247,000 Civil Penalty Against the Collings Foundation

Alleges The Conduct of Unauthorized P-51 Flights

It's not been a good year for the Collings Foundation... The U.S. Department of Transportation’s FAA has proposed a $247,000 civil penalty against the Collings Foundation of Stow, Mass., for allegedly conducting unauthorized flights in a P-51D Mustang airplane. The Mustang in question is a limited category aircraft, and FAA regulations prohibit charging people for flights in this category of aircraft. The FAA alleges that between Jan. 17, 2020 and Jan. 30, 2020, the Foundation improperly operated the Mustang on 26 flights carrying people it had charged for flight training. IITSEC Becomes vIITSEC

The National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA) is happy to announce a new virtual event called vIITSEC, which is scheduled to take place November 30 - December 4, 2020. The event theme, "The Future is Now," could not be more appropriate. NTSA is developing a virtual platform that will enable the training and simulation community to gather in support of developing new training and education systems that will support warfighters, first responders, and our National Security. "It is clear to me that the warfighters are not getting a year off, so neither could the I/ITSEC mission," said RADM James Robb, NTSA's president. I/ITSEC 2020 was canceled for safety concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
