German Defence Ministry Takes Delivery Of Global 5000

Aircraft To Be Used In MedEvac And VIP Transport Missions

The first of four Bombardier Global 5000 jets was handed over to the German Ministry of Defence's (MoD) Special Mission Wing to be operated for VIP transport and Medical Evacuation (MedEvac) flights. The special ceremony in Berlin, Germany, was attended by government officials and executives from Bombardier, German Operating Aircraft Leasing GmbH & CO.KG (GOAL), Rolls-Royce Germany, Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services and Lufthansa Technik.

SSG Joe Abeln Takes Overall Top Honors

The 2011 USPS Nationals of Canopy Piloting has officially come to an end. The competition was held at Skydive Spaceland in Rosharon, TX. This year two members of the Golden Knights competed against 48 other skydivers from across the US. SFC Greg Windmiller, a seasoned canopy piloting competitor, faced off against 33 jumpers in the Open class. SSG Joe Abeln, competing in his first Nationals of Canopy Piloting, competed against 17 in the Advanced class.

Spirit Of Flight Center Event Features Captain Bill Getz, P-51 Mustang Replica

Capt. Charles W “Bill” Getz was a member of the 2nd Scouting Force, ex 491st Bomb Group and flew a P-51D known as “Saucy Shirley". On Saturday, September 24, 2011 the Spirit of Flight Center air museum, located at the Erie, CO Municipal airport, will honor Capt. Bill Getz with a ceremony and induction of a giant ¼ scale P-51 Mustang which is painted in the colors of his airplane.

It was an unforgettable flight. Carl Gustafson, a First Officer with Jet Blue Airways out of Long Beach and a volunteer at Flabob Airport, got a little more excitement than he anticipated in flying a Cessna Skylane to Shindand, Afghanistan. Gustafson was one of a flight of three that helped launch a new Afghan Air Force.
