Two Longbow Apache helicopters provided air-to-ground support to
American soldiers by blasting enemy vehicles during action in
western Baghdad Sunday, US officials reported.
NATO troops deployed as part of the continuing effort to expel
terrorist elements from Afghanistan are reeling from the latest
casualty of what has been a particularly devastating weekend.
There are international calls for an investigation into Sunday's
forced landing of a Georgian military helicopter, after it was
apparently targeted by rebels in the breakaway region of South
Ossetia.
Passengers, flight crews, and security officials are all still a
bit tense after last month's discovery of a plot to bomb commercial
