HSL-47 Returns Home From 5-Month Deployment

Helicopter Anti-submarine Squadron (Light) (HSL) 47 “Saberhawks” returned to Naval Air Station North Island Aug. 4, after a five-month deployment to the Western Pacific. The squadron, assigned to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 2, was embarked aboard USS Shoup (DDG 86) as part of the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, CSG 9.

PACAF Unveils First F-22

Pacific Air Forces' officials got a glimpse into the future of fighter capability during a tail flash unveiling ceremony in which PACAF's first F-22 Raptor was unveiled. The aircraft, which is still under construction, will be the first of 36 F-22s assigned to Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, beginning next year.
