Milestone Series Of Tests Have Quadcopters Slaloming Through Woodlands, Swerving Around Obstacles In A Hangar, And Reporting Back To Their Starting Point All By Themselves

Phase 1 of DARPA’s Fast Lightweight Autonomy (FLA) program concluded recently following a series of obstacle-course flight tests in central Florida. Over four days, three teams of DARPA-supported researchers huddled under shade tents in the sweltering Florida sun, fine-tuning their sensor-laden quadcopter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during the intervals between increasingly difficult runs.

Patuxent River Welcomes CH-53K To Flight Line

First Of Seven Aircraft Expected To Arrive During The Next 12 Months

The first CH-53K King Stallion to touch down at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, Maryland arrived June 30. Relocated from Sikorsky's Development Flight Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, it is the first of seven aircraft expected to arrive over the next 12 months.

Embraer Delivers First Phenom 100 For UK's Military Flight Training Program

Will Replace Aging Aircraft Currently Used For Basic Instruction

Embraer has delivered the first Phenom 100 business jet to Affinity Flight Training Services. The aircraft has been selected to provide Multi-Engine Pilot Training to UK Armed Forces as part of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense's Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) program. The contract with Affinity comprises a firm order for five Phenom 100s and services support, as well as an option for additional follow on aircraft.
