An internal memo distributed to Boeing employees on Monday
indicated that defense cuts will cost about 1,000 people their jobs
with the company, but it has not been determined exactly where the
cuts will be made.

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates is pressing his point
with Congress -- that the Defense Department doesn't need more than
187 F-22 aircraft, according to Pentagon press secretary Geoff
