Previous Longbows Were Remanufactured From Earlier Models
Aero-News learned this week Boeing recently delivered the first
new-build AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter to the US Army during a
ceremony at the company's Mesa, AZ Apache production facility.
Heads To Davis-Monthan After 22 Years In Service With Wing
The last operational F-16A Fighting Falcon flew its final
mission from Arizona's Tucson Air National Guard Base on June 15,
taking off for indefinite storage at the Aerospace Maintenance and
Regeneration Group at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
In the words of a Boeing spokesman, the planemaker decided this
week to put "some skin the game" -- by investing its own money to
keep the Long Beach, CA plant that produces the C-17 Globemaster
III cargo plane open until 2010, despite a lack of orders to keep
the plant open past mid-2009.
In an effort to keep things moving on a project to replace aging
combat search and rescue aircraft, the US Air Force has asked the
Government Accountability Office to hasten its review process of
another round of protests that were recently filed in a hotly
contested $15 billion helicopter competition.
