"Firebird" Designed To Be Flown As A Manned Or Unmanned
Aircraft
Military users will be able to get real-time high-definition
video, view infrared imagery, use radar and even listen in on
communications signals - all at the same time - using a new
intelligence-gathering aircraft system unveiled today by Northrop
Grumman Corporation.
It's been more than 40 years since members of the 537th
Airlift Squadron pilots have taken flight. That hiatus came to an
end in early May, soon after first the 537th AS was reactivated May
6. The squadron was deactivated in the early 1970s at Phu Cat Air
Base, South Vietnam.
