At approximately 10:10 p.m. May 2, contact was lost with two
U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 Hornet aircraft from the USS Carl Vinson
(CVN 70), flying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Search
efforts are currently underway.
North Korea launched a short-range missile into the Sea of Japan
Sunday. The White House chief of staff, Andrew Card Jr., confirmed
the launch, but did not seem to think the launch was militarily
significant.
