The extra air security over Rome for Pope John Paul's funeral
was put to the test Friday, when a diplomatic aircraft was forced
to land by Italian fighters because of a reported bomb on
board.
An MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter of Helicopter Sea Combat
Squadron (HSC) 28 "Dragon Whales" rescued a boater near the mouth
of the York River at approximately 2:25 p.m. April 6, as his boat
was rapidly taking on water.
Security was tight in Rome Friday as Pope John Paul II was
buried at the Vatican. While millions of mourners packed the
Vatican and surrounding areas... as billions watched on television,
a NATO AWACS plane was on patrol high above the ceremonies.
