US Space Command Publishes Points of Focus for Operations

“Specific Behaviors” Outline Ideal Space Force Behavior

The U.S. Space Command published its list of proposed specific behaviors for future operations, setting out 8 points of particular focus for US operations in space. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III signed the Tenets of Responsible Behavior in Space in July of 2021, acknowledging 5 longstanding DoD tenets of responsible military behaviors in space. After the signing, Austin directed the commander of USSPACECOM to develop associated specific behaviors for each one, specifically suited to the Space Force’s mission.

USAF Puts KC-46 to Work on Unconventional Airfields

New Tanker Trains on Off-Airport Runways 

Pilots from the 22nd Air Refueling Wing got a chance to try out the KC-46A Pegasus in tandem with the USAF's Airfield Marking Patterns (AMP)-3 system, practicing unconventional airfield operations. The AMP-3 system is a collection of man-portable landing aids designed to mark off unconventional runways, allowing operation from unmarked runways, roadways, or interstates. The AMP-3 builds on versions 1 and 2 with day/night capability, allowing tactical airlifts to happen with less environmental constraints.
