RF Risk Reduction Deployment Demonstration Targeted For Launch In Late February
DARPA’s Radio Frequency Risk Reduction Deployment Demonstration (R3D2) is set for launch in late February to space-qualify a new type of membrane reflectarray antenna. The antenna, made of a tissue-thin Kapton membrane, packs tightly for stowage during launch and then will deploy to its full size of 7.5 feet in diameter once it reaches low Earth orbit.
Complete System Consists Of Two Simulators, An Instructor Station And Two JTAC Training Systems
The Danish Ministry of Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO), the Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) and Fighter Wing Skrydstrup (FW SKP) have taken delivery of a newly developed combined F-16 simulator and JTAC training capacity at the FW SKP. The complete training system consists of two F-16 simulators, one instructor station and two JTAC training systems, all combined in one deployable solution.
The 418th Flight Test Squadron and Global Reach Combined Test Force had a busy and successful 2018. The squadron oversaw “revolutionary” flight control upgrades for C-17 Globemaster IIIs in landing and air refueling modes; the final parachute certification air drops of NASA's new Orion space capsule; air launch of ballistic missiles to bolster the Missile Defense Agency's defensive shield and worldwide testing of a new avionics suite for the C-5 Galaxy.
